06/28/2018: China and the WTO amid global trade protectionism

With global trade facing a rise in unilateralism and protectionism, China’s State Council decided to release a white paper on Thursday to highlight the country’s reform and opening-up measures and global contributions since joining the World Trade Organization in 2001. How will China work together with the WTO to tackle escalating trade tensions and stabilize the global economy?

Pascal Lamy, former director-general of the WTO from 2005 – 2013; professor John Gong from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing; and David Mahon, managing director of Mahon China Investment Management Limited in Beijing, shared their views.
